gravitate towards. Of course, I didn't get that idea until after the first pot.
Middle and right are the softer tones I was trying for although the right one is a bit darker than I had intended. All the while doing this I was thinking of doing a dark rich green and what colors would go with it. Mountain Colors out of Colorado used to have a color called Pine Needles that I LOVED! I'll have to scrounge around and try to find a pic of that, but it was dark smokey greens as best I can remember and maybe some blues as well.
Something else I worked on today was this...
I have been wanting to do an indigo vat but number one I don't have any and number 2, if I did have some I would probably be too lazy to work one up. These are vintage linens I picked up at a church sale last fall. I have the vintage table cloths they go with and would like to dye them an indigo color and then make some dresses out of them, or to be more precise, a few simple shifts. I'll see how these come out first. The navy dye I'm using has a bit of a green undertone so we'll see ho it comes out. I mixed a solution of soda ash and soap, the soap acting as a wetting agent and the soda ash to fix the dye. Brought the pot to a good head of steam then took it out to the garage where I covered it in some rugs to retain the heat and tomorrow sometime I'll rinse and dry to see whats what. Since I had a bit of wiggle room in the pot I threw in a skein of leftover linen/cotton yarn which I know has to be at least 30+ years old. Giving it a new life! Until next time, Fiber On Troops!
